Plannning Inspectorate gives green light to the Mortlake Brewery development - further traffic chaos once construction starts! May 2025

Richmond Council has welcomed the Planning Inspectorate’s decision to approve the long-awaited redevelopment of the former Stag Brewery site – a move that will bring new homes, a secondary school, and improved public spaces to Mortlake. The site, which stood vacant for almost a decade, will be transformed into 1,075 new homes.

We expect that once construction starts, the construction traffic will massively increase journey times along the single carriageway from Mortlake to Chiswick corner. In addition, the road from Mortlake through Barnes to Putney is also single lane and is also likely to suffer increased journey times.
